House Cleaning Checklist

Bedrooms

Dusting

      • Dust all furniture, including dressers, bedside tables, headboards, and shelves.
      • Wipe down mirrors, picture frames, and decorative items.
      • Clean ceiling fans and light fixtures (where accessible).
      • Dust and wipe window sills, ledges, and skirting boards.
      • Remove cobwebs from corners and ceilings.

Cleaning and Disinfection

      • Disinfect high-touch areas such as light switches, door handles, and remote controls.
      • Wipe down wardrobe exteriors and handles.
      • Clean and disinfect flat surfaces like bedside tables, shelves.
      • Spot-clean walls, especially around switches, bedframes, and entrances.

Floors

      • Vacuum carpets and rugs thoroughly, including under the bed and behind furniture where possible.
      • Mop hard floors using an appropriate disinfectant solution.

Kitchen and Dining 

Surfaces and Appliances

      • Degrease and disinfect worktops, splashbacks, and the hob.
      • Clean the inside and outside of the microwave.
      • Clean the exterior of the fridge and oven.
      • Wipe down the outside of cupboards and drawers.
      • Clean small appliances such as the toaster, kettle, and coffee machine.
      • Scrub the kitchen sink, clean the drain, and polish the tap.
      • Disinfect high-touch areas including cupboard handles, fridge handles, and light switches.
      • Wipe down dining tables and chairs, ensuring all surfaces are sanitised.

Floors and Waste

      • Empty and disinfect the rubbish and recycling bins.
      • Sweep/vacuum and mop kitchen floors, including under and around appliances where accessible.

Toilets and Bathrooms

Sanitisation

      • Scrub the toilet bowl inside and out, including the tank and base.
      • Disinfect sinks and worktops; polish taps and fittings.
      • Clean mirrors and wipe down cupboard exteriors.
      • Thoroughly clean the shower and/or bath, including tiles, grout, and glass screens.
      • Disinfect high-touch points such as toilet flush buttons, tap handles, door handles, and switches.
      • Empty bins and replace bin liners

Detailing and Floors

      • Dust and wipe vents, light fixtures, and skirting boards.
      • Mop all floor surfaces, including behind the toilet and under vanity units or cabinets.

Living Areas 

Dusting and Detailing

      • Dust all surfaces including tables, bookcases, TV units, and electronics.
      • Clean and disinfect flat surfaces
      • Clean and polish mirrors, ornaments, and any glass or display surfaces.
      • Vacuum and spot-clean upholstery on sofas and armchairs, including between cushions.
      • Disinfect high-touch items such as remote controls, game controllers, and switches.
      • Clean skirting boards, window sills, and other flat surfaces.

Floors

      • Vacuum all carpets and hard flooring.
      • Mop hard floors thoroughly, paying particular attention to edges and corners.

Hallways, Corridors and Stairs

      • Dust and wipe skirting boards, light switches, and wall-mounted fixtures.
      • Remove cobwebs from ceiling corners and junctions.
      • Clean mirrors, pictures, or decorative elements on the walls.
      • Clean and disinfect stair railings, handrails, and balustrades.
      • Vacuum all flooring (both carpeted and hard).
      • Mop hard floors with a disinfectant.

Laundry Room

      • Wipe down the exterior and drum of the washing machine and dryer.
      • Clean laundry sinks and folding surfaces.
      • Sweep and mop floors, including around and behind machines if accessible.

Balcony/outdoor Areas

      • Wipe down railings, outdoor furniture, and planters.
      • Sweep debris and mop tiled or concrete flooring.
      • Remove cobwebs and dust from light fixtures and corners.

Patio

      • Sweep the patio and remove leaves, dirt, and debris.
      • Wipe down garden furniture, BBQ (exterior only unless requested), and planters.
      • Remove cobwebs from corners, walls, and around light fixtures.
      • Mop tiled or concrete flooring where water drainage is possible.

Entrance and Front of the House

      • Sweep the front entrance, including steps and doormat area.
      • Wipe down the front door, frame, and any external light fittings.
      • Clean glass on entry doors and sidelights (if applicable).
      • Remove cobwebs from entryways, corners, and under eaves.
      • Shake or clean doormats as needed.

Additional Services (Available at Extra Cost Unless Included)

The following are not included in the standard cleaning package and will incur an additional charge unless specified in advance:

      • Blind or shutter cleaning
      • Bed making and dishwashing
      • Rangehood and extractor fan cleaning
      • Interior cleaning of cupboards, wardrobes, and drawers
      • Interior oven cleaning
      • Fridge interior cleaning
      • Sliding glass door cleaning (unless pre-agreed)
      • Balcony glass or railing cleaning
      • Carpet steam cleaning
      • Scrubbing and polishing of hard flooring

Important Notes

      • Spring Cleaning: This service is more extensive and is charged separately.
      • Bathroom Walls: These should be cleaned on a regular basis and are not included in regular cleaning unless specifically arranged.
      • Additional Tasks: Any work outside of the agreed service must be pre-approved and will be billed separately.
